August 28, 2017 — Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC (ARS PAC), the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Navy Combat Veteran and retired NASA astronaut Captain Mark Kelly, announced today their endorsement of Kathleen Murphy for the Virginia House of Delegates.
Throughout her distinguished career in public service, Kathleen Murphy has been a champion for responsible gun violence prevention policies and has made her commitment to the issue a major focus of her work in Richmond. Delegate Murphy has led the fight in the Virginia General Assembly to protect women and their families by keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:
“Following the death of her brother to gun violence, Kathleen Murphy turned grief into action, devoting her career in public service to preventing more families from experiencing the pain of losing a family member to gun violence. In the Virginia House of Delegates, Kathleen Murphy has been a champion for women and their families, leading the fight to make it harder for domestic abusers to access guns.
“We need more leaders in Richmond like Kathleen Murphy who have the grit, determination and courage to stand up to the corporate gun lobby and stand with the majority of Virginians who support strengthening the state’s gun laws. Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC is proud to endorse Kathleen Murphy, a leader who will never stop working to keep guns out of the wrong hands and make Virginia’s communities safer.”
Delegate Kathleen Murphy:
“Thank you, Americans for Responsible Solutions for all your support. Losing a loved one to gun violence is a pain that never ends. I won’t stop fighting for common sense gun laws and I’m proud to have partners like Mark and Gabby as we work to make our communities safer.”
Today’s announcement by Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC comes on the heels of its endorsement of Ralph Northam for Governor, Justin Fairfax for Lieutenant Governor and Mark Herring for Attorney General.
