Join us for a special evening as we celebrate the progress we’ve made over the past 10 years and look ahead to the challenges and opportunities to come.

Ten years ago, a gunman murdered 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary. Heartbroken and outraged, two years into her own recovery journey after being shot, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords decided to channel her pain into purpose. Gabby founded the organization today known as Giffords, and we’ve spent the past decade changing hearts, minds, and laws. And we’re just getting started.

Our progress has been a team effort. With the generous support from our community, Giffords has passed 525 state-level gun safety laws and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in Congress, elected hundreds of gun safety champions to national office, organized over 100,000 survivors and Gun Owners for Safety, helped appropriate roughly a billion dollars in funding for violence intervention and gun violence prevention research, filed over 100 lawsuits and briefs, and generated an unprecedented level of policy expertise, among other successes. 

While we’re proud of the work we’ve done to build the gun violence prevention movement, change the politics of gun safety, and pass safer gun laws over the past 10 years, we know the next decade is even more important.
