Gabby Giffords & Mark Kelly Respond to Last Night’s Tragic Shootings in Appling, Georgia

April 23, 2016 – Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Navy combat veteran and former NASA astronaut Captain Mark Kelly, the Co-Founders of the gun violence prevention organization Americans for Responsible Solutions, issued the below statement responding to the tragic shootings in Appling, Georgia last night that left five people dead:

“Georgians woke up this morning to a sadly familiar headline: a senseless act of gun violence has destroyed lives and torn another community apart. While we still don’t know all the details of this terrible tragedy, we know that this is not the America we strive for. We have to do better than this. And we can. We join our fellow Americans in mourning those taken last night and praying for strength for their loved ones. We’re holding the entire Appling community in our thoughts and prayers.”
