Gun Safety Group Launches Ads Pushing Back on Attorney General Laxalt for Refusing To Enforce Law That Will Improve Background Check System

March 22, 2017 – Today, Americans for Responsible Solutions P AC (ARS PAC), the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and Navy combat veteran and NASA astronaut Captain Mark Kelly, launched a radio ad campaign holding Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt accountable for refusing to enforce Ballot Question 1, which was passed in November to strengthen the background checks system.

Ballot Question 1 requires that private party gun transfers – with a few exceptions – be subject to a federal background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System administered by the FBI. This measure was passed into law by Nevada voters.

“Nevadans deserve an Attorney General who will uphold and enforce public safety laws and respect the will of Nevada voters,” said Peter Ambler, Executive Director for Americans for Responsible Solutions. “Voters are going to have a choice to make in 2018 and deserve to know whether their elected officials are working in their best interest.”

In 2016, ARS PAC endorsed U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, U.S. Congressman Ruben Kihuen, U.S. Congresswoman Jacky Rosen, and eight candidates for the Nevada State Legislature.
