Giffords Hails Lisa Monaco as a Strong Choice as Deputy Attorney General
Washington, DC — Giffords, the gun-violence-prevention organization co-founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, applauded the Senate’s confirmation of Lisa Monaco to be United States Deputy Attorney General. In a letter supporting Monaco, Giffords highlighted her considerable legal experience and commitment to helping execute the Department of Justice’s efforts to reverse recent increases in homicide, including those involving firearms.
Statement from Peter Ambler, Giffords Executive Director:
“Lisa Monaco is a key member of the team that is making the Department of Justice work once again for all Americans. She’ll help restore confidence in the independence and integrity of the department, ensuring that it is no longer clouded by the former President’s radical agenda and is instead focused on the crises at hand, like gun violence. We look forward to working with Deputy Attorney General Monaco and the Department of Justice’s leaders to ensure the agency enacts the policies that can truly save lives and prevents tragic shootings we have seen far too often in our country.”
