Giffords PAC Endorses Senator Richard Blumenthal
Washington DC — Today,Giffords PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of Senator Richard Blumenthal for reelection. In office, Senator Blumenthal has been an unrivaled gun violence prevention champion on Capitol Hill, and his tireless commitment to keeping communities safe has resulted in the introduction of numerous pieces of landmark legislation to strengthen federal firearms regulations.

Senator Richard Blumenthal was first elected to the Us Senate in 2010, and he has been a leader in the gun fight to end gun violence ever since. In the wake of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012—which claimed the lives of 20 innocent students and six staff members—he has taken on the dangerous practices and rhetoric of the gun lobby at every turn and has never let up in his pursuit to honor those lost with commonsense solutions. In office, he is the lead sponsor on numerous bills that are designed to save lives, including Ethan’s Law, the Untraceable Firearms Act, the Lori Jackson Domestic Violence Survivor Protection Act, and the Background Check Completion Act. He also chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and has held four hearings this Congress on issues relating to safe storage, domestic violence, ghost guns, and extreme risk laws. Following the devastating mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Senator Blumenthal also played a role in negotiations with Republicans to produce a framework that could lead to the passage of the first meaningful gun safety legislation in almost 30 years.
