GIFFORDS: America’s Lax Gun Laws Fuel Armed Hate
Mass Shooting in Allen, Texas, Possibly Linked to White Supremacy
Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS, the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement after it was revealed that there is a possible link to white supremacy and the mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas. At least eight people were killed and another seven injured on Saturday.
Peter Ambler, Co-Founder and Executive Director:
“We are all reeling after the horrific mass shooting in Allen, Texas, this past weekend. Now, it’s been revealed that the shooter was likely motivated by neo-Nazi and white supremacist ideologies. America’s lax gun laws enable people who are filled with hate to carry out horrific acts of violence. The gun industry plays a major role in fueling these acts of hate by promoting tactical gear that bears similar insignia to hate-groups like the Proud Boys. Congress must address the role of hate in our nation’s gun violence epidemic. Otherwise these tragic shootings will only keep happening and destroying innocent lives.”
