Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Remembers Shooting at Tops Friendly Market
Washington DC — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the national gun violence prevention group GIFFORDS, released the following statement honoring the victims and survivors of the racist mass shooting at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, New York, two years later. GIFFORDS Law Center is representing several victims and families of the shooting in a lawsuit against gun companies and social media companies.
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords
“Two years ago, people were living their lives on a Saturday afternoon and never came home to their families again. This happened because a shooter was radicalized online and committed a horrific racist act of violence. This should have never happened. I’m thinking of the 10 people who were murdered that day, their families, and survivors. GIFFORDS won’t stop fighting to honor the victims of this shooting with action and ending gun violence.”
