Newest class of GIFFORDS Courage Fellows trains in Tucson

WASHINGTON  GIFFORDS, the gun violence prevention group founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, is welcoming its 2025 class of Courage Fellows in Tucson for three days of advocacy training. The new class includes six gun safety advocates who have traveled from across the state to learn firsthand how to work with lawmakers to save lives. The Courage Fellows program was launched in 2018 to empower young advocates to to fight for lifesaving gun safety laws. This year’s training takes place a week before its sister class convenes in Houston, Texas.

“Our Courage Fellows are the future of the gun violence prevention movement, and every year they impress us with their passion and dedication,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “These young leaders grew up in a world where gun violence, the leading cause of death for children, is an ever-present threat. It should alarm us all that this next generation faces this crisis in their neighborhoods, schools, and communities. But our Courage Fellows are determined to break that cycle through their commitment to advocacy, leadership, and fighting for lifesaving gun safety laws.”

The Courage Fellowship will include three days of lobbying at the Arizona Legislature. Fellows will meet gun violence prevention leaders from across the nation and participate in engagement projects focused on creating a community safe from gun violence.
