Enacting legislation to protect victims of domestic violence
Giffords worked in partnership with local leaders and advocates to pass the Protect Rhode Island Families Act, which prohibits people subject to domestic violence protective orders from possessing firearms and establishes a process for domestic abusers to physically relinquish their firearms. This bill is currently awaiting action by Governor Raimondo.
