Our country is in the midst of a gun violence crisis, but we’re fighting for safer, stronger communities. Led by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, GIFFORDS shifts culture, changes policies, and challenges injustice, inspiring Americans across the country to fight gun violence.
On January 8, 2011, Gabby was shot in the head while hosting a “Congress On Your Corner” event in Tucson, Arizona. The gunman killed six people and injured 12 others. With the nation’s eyes on her, Gabby resigned her post in Congress to focus on her recovery. In 2013, following the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Gabby said “Enough” and co-founded the organization today known as GIFFORDS.
Our team brings decades of political, legal, and policy expertise to the fight for gun safety. But this fight isn’t just happening in Congress and in courtrooms. It’s happening online, in our communities, and across every platform where people connect and share ideas. We need every voice to speak up for gun safety—because together, we will create a safer future free from gun violence.
