GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Kirsten Gillibrand for Reelection to the US Senate

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for reelection to the US Senate. Senator Gillibrand is a strong and determined public servant who has always championed the needs of her constituents, including the need to keep children and families across her state safe from gun violence.

As a lawyer, congresswoman, and senator, Kirsten Gillibrand has advocated for communities that are too often overlooked. In office, she has been a fervent supporter of the many commonsense solutions needed to curb America’s epidemic of gun violence and save lives. Senator Gillibrand has consistently backed legislation to expand background checks and keep firearms out of the hands of those seeking to do harm to themselves or others. She knows we must take proactive steps to reduce crime and has fought to ban the distribution of blueprints for 3D-printed ghost guns and to prohibit abusive intimate partners and stalkers from accessing guns. 

In the Senate, Senator Gillibrand has proven she has the courage to stand up to the gun lobby and has worked tirelessly to make New York communities safer by taking on the scourge of gun trafficking. Last year, her bill to make gun trafficking a federal crime, the Hadiya Pendleton and Nyasia Pryear-Yard Gun Trafficking and Crime Prevention Act, was included in the final version of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act—the first major gun safety legislation to be signed into law in nearly thirty years.
