Candidate
Adelita Grijalva
US House
Arizona
— 7th District Democrat
Incumbent2026
Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva is no stranger to making history and knows what it takes to stand up for her community. As a school board member for two decades and the first Latina elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors, Congresswoman Grijalva consistently put the needs of her constituents first and fought to make life better for children and families. Now, she’s continuing this mission as the first Latina ever elected to represent Arizona in Congress, where she’s following in the footsteps of her late father, Congressman Raúl Grijalva. In Washington DC, Congresswoman Grijalva has striven to make progress for everyday Arizonans, even amidst trying times, by working across the aisle to pass lifesaving solutions on a host of important issues—like curbing gun violence.
Throughout her career, Congresswoman Grijalva has made addressing America’s gun violence epidemic and bolstering public safety a top priority. In her previous roles, Congresswoman Grijalva frequently worked in partnership with local and state leaders from across southern Arizona to educate community members and gun owners alike about the need for responsibility when it comes to buying and owning firearms. From holding gun safety–focused town halls with youth from the Sunnyside Unified and Tucson Unified school districts, to setting up tables with pamphlets, information about gun safety classes, and free gun locks at prominent gun shows hosted at the Pima County Fairgrounds, she’s been laser focused on keeping guns out of the hands of children. On the Board of Supervisors, she also sponsored strong measures to challenge Arizona’s state law that prohibits local governments from enacting their own firearms regulations and to require gun owners to report the theft or loss of a firearm. And now, she’s continuing to push for rational action on gun violence in Congress — where she’s supported lifesaving measures to ban assault weapons, implement universal background checks, strengthen safe storage requirements, and fund critically needed community violence intervention programs.
With so much on the line this fall, it’s imperative we reelect leaders who are fighting back against the Trump administration’s dangerous rhetoric and actions on guns—leaders like Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva. We know she carries the voices of so many with her into the halls of power and are certain that she will never give up the fight to protect the progress we’ve made on gun safety, save lives from senseless violence, and help shape a safer future for the next generation.
