Delegate Adrian Boafo is a public servant committed to action, not just talk. As the son of Ghanaian immigrants, he grew up knowing that faces like his were underrepresented in the halls of power. From his time as a young student advocating for stronger mental health services and criminal justice reform, to his current role in the Maryland House of Delegates, Delegate Boafo has prioritized a style of public service that is rooted in community. Now, he’s running for Congress to oppose the corruption that prevents government from working for everyday people. 

Growing up during the rise of gun violence and the onset of school shootings in our country, Delegate Boafo understands the severity of the gun violence crisis firsthand. Throughout his time in the Maryland General Assembly, he has worked alongside gun safety advocates and community leaders to advance meaningful policies, including strengthening gun storage requirements, cracking down on ghost guns and convertible weapons, strengthening firearm licensing laws, and establishing sensitive locations where guns don’t belong. Delegate Boafo has also been a strong advocate for expanding mental health resources for youth. He believes mental health support and stronger gun safety laws go hand-in-hand, and he’s committed to pushing both priorities in Congress.

Delegate Boafo represents the next generation of leadership in Washington DC. Unlike many in Congress, he has participated in active shooter drills and lived in fear of gun violence at school and in his community. This experience has shaped his commitment to ensuring that future generations don’t live with the same fear. The voters of Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District must elect Delegate Adrian Boafo, a champion who will be their voice in Congress and fight for a safer future.
