Throughout his career in public service, Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado has been committed to the fight against gun violence. After receiving a degree from Harvard Law School, Delgado worked as an attorney and dedicated significant time to pro bono work in connection with criminal justice reform. In 2018, he flipped a key swing district from red to blue and was proud to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District in the US House before serving as lieutenant governor of New York. 

While in Congress, Delgado was a fierce advocate for gun safety reforms, sponsoring bills to require background checks for private transfers and to close dangerous background check loopholes. As lieutenant governor, he has helped to make New York a national leader on commonsense gun safety legislation, working in partnership with Governor Hochul to strengthen New York’s gun safety laws and keep New Yorkers safe from senseless gun violence. Their administration is expanding New York’s red flag laws, strengthening gun reporting protocols, closing loopholes in existing law, and raising the legal age to buy semi-automatic rifles to 21 years old. 
 
Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado is focused on continuing to get illegal guns off the streets and building safer communities statewide. With courts and state legislatures across the country rolling back decades of progress in gun violence prevention, it is essential we reelect gun safety champions will never cave to the radical agenda of the gun lobby. In doing so, we can ensure that every New Yorker can live free from the dangers of gun violence.
