Brook Park City Councilman Brian Poindexter grew up watching his father work to provide for his family, and he’s channeled that energy into his own life—everything Councilman Poindexeter has done has been to build a foundation for his family. As the proud father of two daughters, he’s continuing to give back to his family and his community by tackling some of the most pressing issues facing Ohioans, including our epidemic of gun violence.

Like so many in this movement, Councilman Poindexter knows that we cannot let our country’s epidemic of senseless shootings go unchecked. In Washington DC, Councilman Poindexter is determined to enact commonsense solutions that will keep our communities safe without infringing on anyone’s rights, including passing measures like universal background checks and red flag laws that empower law enforcement officers to get dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals. He is also acutely aware of the dangerous nexus between intimate partner violence and access to guns, and he’s determined to do everything in his power to disarm domestic abusers.

Ohio families deserve better than their current congressman, Max Miller—a man who is credibly accused of holding a gun to his ex-wife’s head and has been bankrolled by the corporate gun lobby. It’s time to demand better and send Councilman Brian Poindexter to fight for a safer future for the next generation. With him pushing for progress in a new gun safety majority, we can save lives.
