Chris Deluzio is a Pittsburgh-area native, an Iraq War veteran, and a voting rights attorney. Throughout his career in the Navy and in law, he’s fought for justice and always put the needs of his country first. In Congress, he’ll continue to advocate for measures that will bolster public safety and protect the freedoms so many Americans hold most dear.
If elected, ending gun violence will be among Deluzio’s top priorities. Like many veterans, he used and carried weapons of war during his service—equipping him with a thorough understanding of the immense power of firearms and the need for our legislators to pass commonsense gun safety legislation. While he supports the recently enacted Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, he rightly believes that we must do more to build a better future for the next generation of Pennsylvanians. Deluzio strongly supports legislation to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, as well as efforts to extend background checks to all gun sales and to make sure that dangerous weapons don’t fall into the hands of those seeking to do harm.
Someone is killed with a gun every six hours in Pennsylvania, resulting in over 1,500 deaths each year. We cannot let this devastating trend continue—it’s time to elect a new generation of leaders to office to end the gun violence epidemic once and for all. This district will be a bellwether for progress this fall, and we cannot sit idly with so much on the line.
