Christina Hines

US House Michigan — 10th District Democrat
Open Seat2026
As a prosecutor dedicated to fighting for women and children, Christina Hines has always worked tirelessly to stand up for the most vulnerable among us—and as a mother, she knows that we owe it to the next generation to never stop working to build a safer future for every Michigander. Now, Hines is stepping up to continue serving her community in a new way: by running for Congress in one of the most closely-watched battleground seats in the country and fighting to take on the issues that matter most to Michigan families, including the need to tackle our nation’s epidemic of gun violence.

Throughout her career, Hines has handled several cases in which children accessed their parent’s guns and shot themselves or another child. Those images will never, ever leave her mind—particularly because of how preventable they are. Since gun violence remains the number one cause of death for children in America, Hines believes we should treat the daily violence plaguing our communities as the public health issue—and for this reason, she has worked across the Great Lake State to support legislation that would require pediatricians to include information and statistics about children accessing firearms in their offices and to inform parents about the risks.

Like so many parents, when Hines drops her kids off at school or her family goes to church, she worries about their safety. If elected, she is committed to making the passage of stronger gun laws a top priority, from strengthening safe storage requirements to implementing red flag laws and universal background checks on gun sales. Having helped create a Restorative Justice Program for both adults and juveniles while serving in the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office—an initiative that brought victims and offenders together to repair harm, foster accountability, and prevent future violence—Hines will also make adequately funding similar programs at the national level a key part of her work to end gun violence.

In recent years, Michigan has seen too much senseless gun violence tear communities apart and change lives across the state forever. But out of tragedy, leaders at the state level have stepped up to enact meaningful improvements to their laws to keep residents safe. Now, a new generation of leaders must do the same at the federal level—one led by champions in the fight like Christina Hines. With her serving as her community’s voice in Washington DC, we know a safer future is possible. We must flip this seat come 2026 so she can help make it a reality.

We are proud to endorse Christina Hines for the US House of Representatives.
