As a first-generation Korean American, Congressman Dave Min wants his kids to grow up in the same California that attracted his parents and so many immigrants like them to come plant roots there—where everyone has a fair shot at the American Dream and where the safety of our children and communities is a top priority. A key part of that work is preventing his home state from suffering the same deadly gun violence that has rocked too many communities across the country.

During his years in the California legislature, Congressman Min led the charge to end gun shows on the Orange County Fairgrounds and helped enact a first-in-the-nation effort to end the sale of firearms and ammunition on all state property in California. In Sacramento, he also championed efforts to require that gun dealers have proper training and surveillance protocols to prevent fraudulent sales and theft.

Since arriving in Washington DC, Congressman Min has continued to be a strong advocate for common sense measures to reduce violence while respecting the Second Amendment rights of all Americans. In the U.S. House, he’s supported numerous bills to expand background checks to all gun sales, adequately fund lifesaving community violence intervention programs, implement red flag laws that allow families and law enforcement to petition a court to disarm those who pose a risk to themselves or others, and incentivize the safe storage of firearms. He’s also helped lead the effort to ban dangerous assault weapons and protect our brave law enforcement from the threat of home-manufactured firearms.

The gun lobby knows that Congressman Min represents a threat to its future plans, and it is going to spend everything it has to win back his seat next fall. To stop them, regain a gun safety majority in the House and pass lifesaving laws,  we need to send Congressman Dave Min back to Capitol Hill next November. We know that with him continuing to lead the way, real progress is possible.
