Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller is a dedicated public servant and healthcare professional whose career has focused on serving the community and fighting for working families. In her current role, she’s led major initiatives in health equity, veteran services, and economic development, while building strong coalitions across government and community sectors. With a background in healthcare consulting and a lifelong commitment to public service, Commissioner Miller is ready to bring her leadership to the US House of Representatives to ensure that children and families in her community can thrive without the fear of gun violence.
As an experienced healthcare professional, Commissioner Miller knows that gun violence is a public health crisis that demands a holistic approach—investing in evidence-based prevention, strengthening trust within communities, expanding access to mental health care, and passing lifesaving gun laws. During her time in local office, she has demonstrated her commitment to community safety by supporting lifesaving initiatives and policies. She has helped secure $110 million in violence prevention and reduction grants, has gathered stakeholders including mayors, police chiefs, and community organizations to work together to implement effective strategies, and has championed a Restorative Justice Community Court to combat discrimination and reinforce trust and accountability between law enforcement and the diverse communities they serve. In Congress, Commissioner Miller will continue to prioritize community safety by taking on the gun lobby and passing commonsense gun laws like background checks and red flag laws nationwide.
This November, voters in Illinois’s Second Congressional District have an important opportunity before them. They have the chance to elect an experienced leader who will fight to put their voices first in Washington DC—and that champion is Commissioner Donna Miller. With her as part of a new gun safety majority in Congress, we know that the safety and well-being of American families will be a top priority.
