Reverend Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III is committed to the people he serves. Rev. Haynes has served as senior pastor in Dallas Friendship-West Baptist Church for the past four decades, growing the congregation from fewer than 100 members to more than 13,000. Friendship-West is not only a place of worship but also a hub for civic engagement, economic empowerment, voter education, workforce development, and social change. Rooted in his faith, Rev. Haynes has been a strong community advocate and coalition-builder deeply committed to justice, opportunity, and accountability. He doesn’t just preach hope and change—he takes action by organizing his community, funding campaigns, and transforming lives. Now, Rev. Haynes is running for Congress to bring the voices of working people, faith leaders, community advocates, students, and the underserved into Washington DC and turn real-life experience into policy that delivers dignity, opportunity, and security for all.
Throughout his ministry, Rev. Haynes has been a consistent moral voice against gun violence in and out of the pulpit, urging faith communities and public leaders to move beyond thoughts and prayers and pursue solutions that save lives while protecting constitutional rights. In Congress, he will support evidence-based efforts to reduce gun violence, including strengthening background checks, investing in community-based violence prevention, expanding access to mental health services, and keeping firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others. Rev. Haynes believes every child, family, and community deserves to live free from the fear of gun violence. He will work across sectors with law enforcement, faith leaders, educators, and community organizations to address both the immediate threat of gun violence and its root causes through opportunity, prevention, and public safety.
Texas’s Thirtieth Congressional District has a proud legacy of servant leadership and sending champions to Washington DC who fight tirelessly for the vulnerable and center the people they represent.
