Congressman Gabe Vasquez is a first-generation American who grew up in the borderlands and has always worked hard to make a positive difference in the lives of others. In 2017, he was elected to the Las Cruces City Council, where he delivered millions of dollars in investments to create and improve his community, and helped craft a comprehensive development plan that focused on lifting families out of poverty—which has proven to be an effective tool in reducing gun violence. In prior years, Congressman Vasquez also served as the executive director of the Las Cruces Hispano Chamber of Commerce and as a policy advocate promoting child welfare and family well-being at the federal level. While he is a sportsman who respects the Second Amendment, Congressman Vasquez is committed to fighting for the types of commonsense measures that are designed to save lives.

Throughout his time in Washington DC, Congressman Vasquez has consistently reached across the aisle to put public safety over partisan politics and has proudly supported numerous important gun safety measures like the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2023, Ethan’s Law, and the Assault Weapons Ban. 

With so much on the line this fall, we need to reelect officials who understand the need to strengthen our gun laws while supporting responsible gun ownership. Our children deserve better, and New Mexicans have a chance this fall to send a committed champion back to Capitol Hill. With Representative Gabe Vasquez leading the way on this issue as part of the next generation of gun safety champions in Congress, we know that real progress is possible.
