Jamie Raskin

US House Maryland — 8th District Democrat
Incumbent2026
Representative Jamie Raskin is an unparalleled champion in the fight to save lives from senseless gun violence. Prior to his time in Congress, Representative Raskin was a three-term state senator in Maryland, where he worked to introduce and pass one of the most comprehensive state gun safety laws in the nation—which banned the sale of military-style assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, required fingerprint licensing, instituted a universal violent criminal background check on all gun purchases, and made it a crime to fail to report a lost or stolen gun within 48 hours.

Now, as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee—which has jurisdiction over almost every piece of federal legislation relating to gun violence prevention—Representative Raskin is taking the fight for needed reforms nationwide. In Washington DC, he has introduced legislation to deter the transfer of firearms to dangerous individuals and to stop the transfer of assault-style weapons. Representative Raskin also championed measures to close the private gun show and internet sales loopholes, ban the home manufacture of “ghost guns,” and impose a mandatory process for those convicted of abuse to relinquish their firearms upon conviction. As the former ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, he has also consistently spoken out against the corrupt nature of the corporate gun lobby and taken on their dangerous rhetoric and practices while in office.

It’s clear that Representative Jamie Raskin has served his constituents with honor, and voters must send him back to Washington DC this fall to continue his efforts to build a safer future for the next generation of Marylanders. With him continuing to play an instrumental leadership role in the fight to save lives in a renewed gun safety majority, a world free from the scourge of gun violence will finally be within reach.

We are proud to endorse Jamie Raskin for the US House of Representatives.
