As a mother of four, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum knows that we are failing families every day that we allow America’s gun violence epidemic to go unchecked A tested and proven leader, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum has shown her dedication to the health and safety of Oregonians on both the state and federal levels. While serving in the Oregon House, Representative Bynum developed a track record of putting our children and families first and was a powerful voice for commonsense gun safety measures. In Congress, she’s continued this work in new and unique ways as she’s pushed to bolster community safety and save lives across Oregon.
In office, Congresswoman Bynum has worked to pass numerous measures to keep her constituents safe, like bills to crack down on the spread of dangerous untraceable ghost guns, disarm domestic abusers and stalkers, and incentivize gun owners to safely store their weapons. She also worked to pave the future passage of red flag laws like she did successfully in Oregon, which would give families and law enforcement officers the ability to petition a court to remove firearms from someone who may harm themselves or others. Throughout her time in Washington DC, Congresswoman Bynum has also made efforts to expand background checks to all gun sales, fund research into the root causes of gun violence, and support lifesaving community violence intervention programs.
