As an Emmy Award–winning broadcast journalist for more than 30 years, Janelle Stelson has spent her life listening and talking directly to the people of Central Pennsylvania—and she’s seen the increase in gun violence up close. She’s been hugged by mothers overcome with grief because their child’s life was cut short by a gun—sometimes in the hands of another young person. Now, she’s fighting to earn a spot in Congress so she can help ensure that no family has to go through this pain again.

Stelson is committed to enacting meaningful legislation in the House to prevent gun violence and stop the torrent of tragedies that have impacted communities from coast to coast. If elected, she’ll be a champion for expanding background checks to all gun sales, implementing lifesaving red flag laws that allow law enforcement officers and families to petition a court to disarm individuals who post threats to themselves or others, incentivizing the safe storage of firearms, and getting dangerous untraceable ghost guns off of the streets of communities across the Commonwealth. Stelson will also be a strong voice for funding community violence intervention programs and disarming domestic abusers who pose risks to countless women across our country.

This fall, a new gun safety majority in Congress will run through Frontline districts like Pennsylvania’s Tenth District and voters must turn out to send a committed advocate like Janelle Stelson to advocate on their behalf. She knows that it will take all of us to make real change, and she’s ready to do the hard work of getting it done on gun safety. With her leading the way, we know a future free from gun violence is within reach.
