Dr. Jasmine Clark is a mom and microbiologist who found her passion helping others at a young age. In 2017, in the wake of Donald Trump’s first election, she recognized the need for a strong science voice in government and decided to run for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives that had been in Republican hands for over 20 years. Despite facing a powerful incumbent Republican who outspent her by more than two to one, she won—and she went on to defend her seat again in 2020, 2022, and 2024, even as Republicans redrew her district to make it more competitive. It’s clear that Representative Clark has the political acumen and public health background to get things done and tackle some of the hardest issues facing Georgians, and she’ll do just that by working to tackle senseless gun violence once she’s elected to Congress.
At the state level, Representative Clark has been one of the foremost leaders in the Georgia legislature advocating for commonsense gun safety laws. From standing with school shooting survivors at Apalachee High School to demand change to partnering with local law enforcement to conduct gun safety trainings, she has leapt into action while Republicans have failed to keep our kids safe. Representative Clark has also championed community violence intervention programs, bringing stakeholders together and centering the experiences of gun violence survivors to fight for real comprehensive firearm safety laws. In Congress, she’ll continue this important work in an effort to build a safer future for every American by pushing for legislation to expand background checks, bolster safe storage requirements, and implement federal red flag laws to disarm those who pose threats to their communities.
With so much on the line this fall, it’s imperative that voters turn out like never before to elect champions in the fight to save lives and reestablish a gun safety majority in the US House.
