Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has always been determined to help people at every turn. From working on President Obama’s 2012 campaign to helping enact then Governor John Hickenlooper’s policy agenda as his director of special projects, and now as her state’s chief election official, Secretary Griswold has always striven to protect our rights and push back against those who are determined to move us backward. As the Rocky Mountain State’s next attorney general, Secretary Griswold will always stand up to Donald Trump and his allies in the corporate gun lobby.
Throughout her career, Secretary Griswold has been a staunch supporter of commonsense gun safety measures that are designed to keep our children safe and keep weapons of war off our streets. Like so many in Colorado, she knows that the many headline-making tragedies that her state has faced in recent years—from the deadly shooting at a movie theater in Aurora to similar mass casualty events at a grocery store in Boulder and a nightclub in Colorado Springs—should never have been allowed to happen. In her current position, Secretary Griswold has been active in working with the Colorado legislature to counter the many threats to our democratic process by banning guns near voting locations and making it a crime to threaten election workers. For Secretary Griswold, this work is particularly personal—when the Colorado Supreme Court determined that President Trump had engaged in insurrection, she followed the Constitution and urged that he should be removed from the ballot, leading her to personally receive numerous death threats from armed extremists.
With so much on the line this fall, it’s imperative that voters from Denver to Pueblo and everywhere in between mobilize like never before to send committed champions in the fight to save lives to lead the way in office—starting with electing Secretary Griswold as Colorado’s next attorney general. In her, Coloradans will always have a leader who puts their safety first and stands up for their best interests in court, and we can not risk losing such a crucial seat when attacks on our gun laws have never been more aggressive. We trust that Secretary Jena Griswold will fight tooth and nail for a stronger assault weapons ban in Colorado, because she knows our kids’ lives matter more than the gun lobby’s profits.
