Congressman Josh Riley is a fifth-generation Upstate New York resident who is dedicated to protecting and serving the people of New York’s 19th Congressional District. Throughout his career, he has fought to bolster public safety and worked hard to make sure that everyone in his community has an opportunity to succeed.
Even prior to his service as a member of the US House, Congressman Riley built a long track record of working to end senseless gun violence as counsel for the US Senate Judiciary Committee. In that role, he helped to lead efforts to respond to the 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School and helped to craft commonsense legislation to prevent future mass tragedies. As a lawyer, Congressman Riley also submitted bipartisan briefs to the United States Supreme Court arguing that people convicted of domestic violence shouldn’t have access to firearms. As a member of Congress, he’s fought to continue this important work by supporting lifesaving legislation that would improve the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), fund research into the root causes of gun violence, keep weapons of war and large-capacity magazines off the streets, and ensure that firearms are not put in the hands of people who are a danger to themselves or others.
New Yorkers know better than most that our weak federal gun laws pose a real danger to their state, and they deserve a champion in Washington DC who will always fight to protect the lives of children across the Empire State—like Congressman Josh Riley. Voters in the Nineteenth District helped flip this crucial swing seat in 2024, and now they can build on that legacy by helping reestablish a gun safety majority in the House—all by voting to ensure that Congressman Josh Riley remains their voice on Capitol Hill come 2027. With him continuing to lead the charge on public safety in office, real progress is possible.
