Katherine Clark

US House Massachusetts — 5th District Democrat
Incumbent2026
House Minority Whip Katherine Clark first ran for office to support the women, children, and families of her district and to achieve high-quality childcare and education for our kids. Like so many Americans, she knows that a critical piece of that mission is taking on America’s deadly epidemic of gun violence. In each of her prior roles, which include time spent as a school board member, as a Massachusetts state representative, and as a state senator, Whip Clark has always led with her values and fought for commonsense solutions to the issues of the day.

Since she came to Congress in 2013, Whip Clark has been a proud and vocal supporter of gun safety measures. She believes that reforming our laws to ensure that guns are sold and used responsibly is essential for improving public safety, and she has proudly cosponsored bills to strengthen background checks, reduce gun trafficking, eliminate ghost guns, and protect victims of domestic violence. In 2016, following the tragic shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Whip Clark teamed up with her friend, the late Congressman John Lewis, to hold a sit-in on the House floor for nearly 26 hours, calling on the then Republican-led body to hold votes on gun safety measures.

As a mother, she is serious about passing on this spirit of activism to her children—in fact, her teenager even led their local community’s March for Our Lives protest after the 2018 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It’s this same spirit that has led her to help champion lifesaving reforms like the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and to stand strong against the Trump administration’s dangerous actions. As a true champion for saving lives in the Democratic Caucus, Whip Clark has consistently urged her colleagues to oppose measures that loosen background checks requirements and eliminate transfer and manufacturing taxes on silencers, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns—while also proudly voting against them herself.

It’s clear that we must flip the House in 2026 and make Whip Clark among our foremost leaders in a new gun safety majority. We know that her leadership will be essential to building upon tangible successes and passing new lifesaving legislation to curb our epidemic of violence. She is committed to making strides on this issue, and we must reelect Whip Katherine Clark this fall.

We are proud to endorse Katherine Clark for the US House of Representatives.
