Governor Katie Hobbs has spent her life fighting for others, from helping run one of the largest domestic violence shelters in the country and working as a social worker to supporting her children as a mom. In elected office, she’s stood up for Arizonans and worked to uphold their trust as a state legislator, secretary of state, and now as governor—even amid threats of violence. Through it all, Governor Hobbs has shown that she’s the battle-tested leader Arizonans need at this moment. For the past four years, she’s proven day in and day out that she’ll stop at nothing to tackle the many issues facing her constituents—including America’s epidemic of gun violence.
Since taking office, Governor Hobbs has stood firm against radical Republican attempts to undermine public safety. In particular, she vetoed a deadly “Shoot First” bill that would have made it legal for property owners to shoot anyone who appears anywhere on their property, as well as dangerous measures that would have allowed for the concealed carry of firearms on college campuses and additional legislation that would have allowed parents to bring guns onto K–12 school grounds and inside school buildings. Governor Hobbs also stopped repeated attempts to expand Arizona’s preemption laws, which would have stripped cities, towns, and counties of their power to regulate firearms locally and provided sweeping legal protections to the gun industry instead of prioritizing community safety. If reelected, she’ll continue to stand up against these dangerous proposals, while also pushing for the proactive enactment of meaningful legislation to save lives, like expanding background checks, getting dangerous weapons—like untraceable ghost guns—off our streets, and better funding critically important violence intervention programs.
It’s clear that Governor Katie Hobbs’s leadership is making a real difference for Arizona families, and voters across the Grand Canyon State must reelect her this fall. She knows how to bring people together, cuts through the partisan noise, and stays focused on what matters most. With her continuing to lead the way on gun safety in Phoenix for four more years, a safer future is possible for every Arizona family.
