State Representative Lindsay James is committed to public service and helping others. In every role she’s held, she’s taken examples from her time serving as a chaplain—where she sat beside people in their hardest hours, listening without judgment, offering hope, and finding common ground where none seemed possible—to make a real difference in peoples’ lives. As a state representative, she held the unshakable conviction that government should serve the people, not the powerful, and that no one—no child, no farmer, no working family—should be pushed aside. Now, she’s taking this energy and dedication to her community to new heights by running for Congress to level the playing field for all Iowans and tackle some of the hardest issues facing Iowans, like our epidemic of gun violence.

As a mom, Representative James’s number one priority is keeping our kids and communities safe. In DC, she’ll fight to pass red flag laws and take weapons out of the hands of violent abusers, expand universal background checks to all gun sales, and promote safe storage laws that require gun owners to properly store their weapons, especially when in areas where children are present. She believes that everyone deserves to feel safe in their communities, and she is willing to do the work to make that a reality for Americans. 

Rooted in Iowa values and guided by the belief that every person is created with equal dignity and worth, Representative Lindsay James represents a new hope for so many in her community. We know she’ll never stop fighting to make the lives of all Iowans better and will usher in a safer future as part of a renewed gun safety majority in the US House.
