Lois Frankel

US House Florida — 22nd District Democrat
Incumbent2024
Representative Lois Frankel is acutely aware of the devastating toll gun violence can have on a community. Gun violence devastates families and destroys lives, and her home state of Florida has borne the brunt of so much of this senseless carnage in recent years. From Parkland to Pulse, too many Floridians have had their lives upended or cut short by America’s epidemic of violence, and the need for substantive policy change is palpable.

As a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Representative Frankel has supported legislation to expand universal background checks, impose limits on large-capacity magazines, and repeal the ban on using federal funds to conduct gun violence research. She has also signed onto numerous bills that would ensure that individuals who have abused dating partners are prohibited from buying or owning firearms. In 2016, Representative Frankel participated in a sit-in on the House floor demanding action on gun violence legislation after the Pulse nightclub shooting, and after the tragic school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in 2018, she held local town halls on gun violence, met with student activists and survivors, and supported students walking out across the country to demand action on gun violence. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Representative Frankel has also supported funding for gun violence research at the CDC and NIH, as well as funding for crisis intervention programs in schools—and in 2022, she joined colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass the first major gun safety legislation signed into law in nearly 30 years, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

While Representative Frankel knows there is no magic wand to end gun violence, she believes there are many responsible, commonsense, reasonable actions Congress can take to save lives. With her in office, we know that South Floridians will never have to worry that their representative will be beholden to the gun lobby, and that they will always have a champion that puts their safety first. We must send Representative Lois Frankel back to Washington DC this November.

We are proud to endorse Lois Frankel for the US House of Representatives.
