Throughout nearly three decades in elected public service, Congresswoman Nellie Pou has consistently broken down barriers and always fought to make life better for New Jersey families. In Trenton, Congresswoman Pou held powerful leadership positions in both chambers of the state government—from chair of the Appropriations Committee and Deputy Speaker in the Assembly, to her tenure as chair of the Judiciary Committee and Senate Majority Caucus Chair in the Senate. In 2024, she was elected to Congress, making history as the first Latina to represent the Garden State in Congress. In Washington DC, she’s made fighting against the epidemic of gun violence a top priority.

As a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Congresswoman Pou has worked tirelessly to pass many of the commonsense solutions needed to reduce crime and save lives, like universal background checks, stronger safe storage requirements, and bans on ghost guns and weapons of war. She’s also authored important bills like the Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act, which aims to modernize records at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and help expedite the justice process for victims of gun crimes.

In 2024, Congresswoman Pou’s district shocked the nation by shifting dramatically to the right and voting for President Donald Trump after it went for President Biden by nearly twenty points four years prior, setting it up to be one of the most competitive seats come 2026. It’s imperative that voters mobilize like never before to send Congresswoman Nellie Pou back to Washington DC. Her voice is desperately needed to create a new House majority that will move our nation forward and safeguard the lives of New Jerseyans.
