Representative Yassamin Ansari made history as the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council, where she proudly represented one of the most diverse districts in the fifth-largest and fastest-growing city in the country as vice mayor. In doing that work—and now by serving her constituents as their congresswoman—she’s taken on some of the toughest challenges facing Arizona and delivered strong results for her community on some of the most intractable issues of the day, including the gun violence epidemic.

Throughout her career, Representative Ansari has consistently made public safety a top priority and striven to ensure the safety of children and families across Phoenix and its surrounding areas. In 2023, she hosted a gun safety education series with gun safety groups, school board members, and local community leaders to educate everyday Arizonans and spread awareness for continued action at the state and local level. Now, in Washington DC, she’s continuing to build on this fight at the national level by supporting legislation in Congress to expand background checks to every gun sale, better regulate dangerous hardware, get weapons away from those who pose threats to themselves or others, bolster safe storage requirements, provide relief and protection to victims of gun violence and domestic abuse, raise the purchase age of semiautomatic firearms to 21, and stop the unregulated sale of ammunition online.

With gun violence continuing to take far too many lives each day, it’s imperative that voters across the country reinstate a gun safety majority in the US House this November—starting with reelecting Representative Yassamin Ansari to another term serving Arizona’s Third District. She knows that it’s a moral failure that gun violence is the number one killer of kids in our country, and we know that if reelected, she will always continue to stand up to the gun lobby and help build a safer future for the next generation.
