Katie Fox
As a gun owner raised in a responsible gun-owning home, Katie Fox felt moved to take action against gun violence. She became a founding member of her local Moms Demand Action chapter and has held various local- and state-level roles over the last six years. Katie is also a survivor: She survived an unintentional near-miss shooting at her home as a child and experienced suicidal ideation as a young adult, and she credits her father’s safe gun storage habits as the reason she’s here today. As a teenager, she lost a friend to suicide when he accessed another friend’s unsecured gun. Because of this background, Katie is passionate about suicide prevention and secure firearm storage, especially in rural Virginia communities like hers.
