Dr. Sylvia C. Washington, PhD, MSE, is director of Community Engaged Research and Partnerships at Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. She leads research on strategies to prevent gun violence, focusing on health inequities affecting Black women and girls. Her work uses an intersectional lens to examine and evaluate community violence intervention, youth violence, and domestic violence. She amplifies marginalized voices to inform inclusive, evidence-based health and policy initiatives.
