“Each Day Marjorie Taylor Greene Remains in Congress is a Stain on Our Country”
Peter Ambler, Giffords Executive Director:
“Marjorie Taylor Greene represents the worst of America. She has brought great pain to survivors of gun violence by mocking them and claiming mass shootings were hoaxes. She has encouraged violence against elected officials who disagree with her deranged conspiracy theories. She is an embarrassment to the institution of Congress and a threat to the safety of her colleagues and staff working on Capitol grounds.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene isn’t the only Republican Member of Congress who holds extreme views and has acted dangerously. For example, Lauren Boebert encourages followers to flaunt guns as a way to influence politics, while Madison Cawthorn and Andy Harris have openly defied rules banning guns on the House floor.
“Gun violence is a threat to the health and safety of our communities. It’s also a threat to our democracy. Congress must draw a line and make it clear that these views and actions have no place in our democracy. Each day that Marjorie Taylor Greene remains in Congress is a stain on our country and proof Republican leadership embraces extremists among their ranks.”
