GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Jacky Rosen for Reelection to the US Senate

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of Nevada Senator Jacky Rosen for reelection. With so much on the line in 2024, it is critical to reelect champions like Senator Rosen to protect the gun safety majority in the US Senate.

“Senator Jacky Rosen knows all too well how gun violence can forever change a community. She saw the devastating aftermath when a gunman opened fire upon thousands of people at a music festival in Las Vegas in 2017. I will never forget the lives lost and forever changed that night, and neither will Jacky. In her first term in the Senate, she has fulfilled her promise to take action against gun violence by voting for landmark bills like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. It’s clear that we need strong women like Jacky in the US Senate to get things done. GIFFORDS PAC is proud to endorse her reelection today.”

Senator Rosen has worked with members of both parties to tackle the complex issues facing her state’s children and families — including Nevada’s gun violence crisis.

The fight for gun safety is personal for Senator Rosen and residents of her state. Just a few months into her first term in the US House, a gunman killed 60 people and injured hundreds more at the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas. In the wake of this unfathomable tragedy, Senator Rosen took immediate action to introduce and support commonsense measures that would prevent future shootings, including legislation to ban the sale of high capacity magazines, bump stocks, and deadly assault weapons. 

In 2018, Senator Rosen took her fight for safer communities to the next level by running for the US Senate and flipping a red seat blue in the process. In office, she’s continued to be a determined leader in the fight to expand background checks to all gun sales and to keep firearms out of the hands of those who seek to harm themselves or others.

In 2022, Senator Rosen took additional action to reduce gun violence by joining colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first major gun safety legislation in nearly thirty years. 

Nevada will be a crucial battleground state in 2024, and the gun lobby will pour everything into flipping the state and rolling back progress. Senator Rosen is the battleborn champion Nevada deserves; she won’t quit until every child can grow up in a world free from gun violence.
