GIFFORDS, Brady and Team ENOUGH, Community Justice Action Fund, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Its Grassroots Networks Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, and Newtown Action Alliance and Jr Newtown Action Alliance, Unveil Joint Endorsement of Kamala Harris for President

WASHINGTON — Today, a coalition of gun safety groups announced their endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for President. The groups part of today’s endorsement announcement include: GIFFORDS, Brady and Team ENOUGH, Community Justice Action Fund, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, Newtown Action Alliance and Jr Newtown Action Alliance.

“We are thrilled to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as our next president. As Vice President she has done record-setting work to address gun violence, including leading the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, a whole-of-government effort to address this crisis. We know that dedication will not waiver as president,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Vice President Harris’ election will be historic, and we are committed to doing everything we can to get her elected in November.”

“Vice President Kamala Harris has helped lead the strongest gun safety administration in American history and will continue to build upon that transformative progress as the first-ever Black and Asian American woman president of the United States,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action, the grassroots arm of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Throughout her career in public service, Vice President Harris has been a powerful force in the fight for our freedoms — including the freedom to live free from the threat of gun violence. Gun extremists have a dream ticket with Trump and Vance, and our volunteers stand ready to do everything in our power to elect Vice President Harris back into the White House.”

“Alongside President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris took on the NRA and gun lobby, leading monumental change that helped usher in the single largest decrease in gun violence in modern American history,” said Kris Brown, President of Brady and Chair of Brady PAC. “President Biden has already had the most historic presidency in taking action against gun violence. No one is better suited to carry that life-saving legacy forward than Harris, who has led the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. A vote for Kamala Harris is a vote to free America from the grips of gun violence. This November, our lives are on the ballot.”

“Vice President Kamala Harris has stood by President Joe Biden to honor Newtown, Orlando, Atlanta, Monterey Park, Highland Park, Parkland, Baltimore, Chicago, Nashville, Louisville, El Paso and all communities impacted by gun violence in our nation. Donald Trump and J.D. Vance will execute their extremist Project 2025 plan to arm teachers in schools while Kamala Harris will finish the job started by President Biden to end the gun violence public health crisis by passing common sense lifesaving gun policies,” said Po Murray, Chairwoman of Newtown Action Alliance. “The historic progress the gun violence prevention movement made since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting will be erased if Trump wins and brings the NRA back into the White House. We must elect Kamala Harris as our next President to protect our children and loved ones.”

“The fight to reduce gun violence in the United States depends on this election. Everything we’ve worked towards could be rolled back on day one with the wrong administration in charge. Vice President Kamala Harris understands what is at stake, and she has demonstrated that she has what it takes to win time and time again,” said José Alfaro, Executive Director of Community Justice Action Fund. “She is ready to meet this moment, and Community Justice Action Fund proudly endorses her for President of the United States. As Vice President, Harris has shown unwavering dedication to addressing gun violence nationwide as a public health issue, investing hundreds of millions of dollars in community violence intervention and leading the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. These acts carry on the legacy of Black women, pushing, fighting, and willing change to happen in the gun violence prevention movement. We stand ready to rally our communities in support of Vice President Harris’ historic candidacy and vision for a safer, more just America.”

“Under the Trump administration, gun violence became the leading cause of death for children and teens. Black and Brown communities know this hardship all too well because it has been the leading cause of death for Black youth for many years. I’ve seen firsthand the trauma and destruction that gun violence has on families and communities, and I can say with absolute certainty that we need to vote like our lives depend on it – because they do,” said Aalayah Eastmond, Parkland shooting survivor and co-founder of Brady’s youth arm, Team ENOUGH. “The Biden-Harris administration has taken historic action to address the systemic inequalities that both fuel and are perpetuated by gun violence, but we can’t let that legacy end there. Vice President Harris understands the stakes of this crisis and has consistently championed comprehensive solutions that address the root causes of violence. The youth of America, especially young people of color, need a president who will prioritize our lives and future. That’s why we’re enthusiastically rallying behind Kamala Harris – she’ll fight to create a safer, more equitable America where no one lives in fear of being shot and killed.”

“Kamala Harris has made gun violence prevention her personal mission as Vice President, earning the respect and trust of young people across the country. Simply put, there is no one more qualified for the job,” said Gavin Bendross, a Students Demand Action National Organizing Board member. “Our generation rallied around Harris long before her days in the White House and our support will be on full display again in November – especially when our safety is on the ballot. Gen Z is used to living through  unprecedented times, but we’ve never shied away from setting the precedent either. We will meet this moment and set the next precedent by electing the first Black and Asian American woman President of the United States: Kamala Harris. That’s a promise.”

The Biden-Harris Administration is the strongest gun safety administration in history, as evidenced by the signing and implementation of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Actconfirmation of a director of the Bureau of  Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF) for the first time in seven years, historic executive actions to address gun violencelong records of taking on the NRA and passing life-saving laws, and the unmatched gun sense cabinet they have built. Gun safety has been a priority for the administration, resulting in combating deadly, untraceable ghost guns, narrowing the background check loophole, improved regulation of stabilizing braces, and a comprehensive strategy to address gun violence that includes efforts to fight gun trafficking, investments in community violence intervention programs, and more.
