GIFFORDS: Kash Patel confirmation “endangers public safety and rule of law”

WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement after Senate Republicans confirmed Kash Patel as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“Simply put, Kash Patel’s confirmation as FBI director endangers both public safety and the rule of law. His ties to extremist groups, his opposition to commonsense gun safety measures, and his lack of awareness of the role the FBI plays in keeping communities safe make him unfit to lead the nation’s top law enforcement agency,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Senate Republicans just gave a dangerous man an enormous amount of power. GIFFORDS will do everything we can to hold the FBI accountable and keep Americans safe.”
