Giffords Endorses Maggie Hassan for the US Senate
WASHINGTON, DC — Giffords PAC, the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced today it is endorsing Senator Maggie Hassan for re-election to the US Senate. Senator Hassan is a proud supporter of gun violence prevention and has a strong record of pushing for commonsense measures that will prevent gun violence.
Senator Hassan was first elected to the US Senate to represent New Hampshire in 2016, winning one of the most competitive races in the country by just 1,017 votes. The race was seen, in part, as a referendum on gun safety. She is only the second woman in US history to have been elected as both Governor and Senator.
Giffords PAC has previously endorsed Senator Hassan, and spent $2.5 million in the 2016 Senate race to get her elected. Giffords PAC ran ads calling out Senator Hassan’s opponent for voting against closing background check loopholes, a measure that was supported by 89% of likely New Hampshire voters at the time.
