GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Tammy Baldwin for Reelection to the US Senate

Washington DC— Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin for reelection. In order to protect our gun safety majority in the US Senate next fall, it is critical to reelect champions like Senator Baldwin. 

“Senator Tammy Baldwin has always put the needs of Wisconsinites first, and if reelected, I know she will continue to move her state forward. I served with Tammy in the House and saw firsthand what a deeply committed public servant she is. Over the last two decades, Tammy has worked across the aisle to champion countless issues, including public safety. As a gun owner like myself, she understands that commonsense gun safety laws don’t violate the Second Amendment—they save lives. In the Senate, Tammy has fought tirelessly to close loopholes in our laws that put our communities at risk, and I’m confident she won’t stop pushing for progress on this issue until every child and family across Wisconsin can live free from the threat of senseless violence. Senator Baldwin knows that residents of her state are tired of waking up to the heartbreaking news of senseless shootings at schools, places of worship, shopping malls, parades, and festivals. For this reason, she proudly supported legislation to disarm those who commit domestic abuse and strengthen America’s background check system throughout her time in Washington. In 2022, Senator Baldwin helped make history by joining Democrats and Republicans to pass the first major gun safety package in nearly 30 years: the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. This landmark legislation made the largest investment in community violence intervention programs in American history, criminalized the scourge of gun trafficking, and allocated funding to states for the implementation of extreme risk protection order laws.

As a responsible gun owner herself and as the representative of a state with proud hunting traditions, Senator Baldwin knows that we can make our communities safer while respecting the Second Amendment.
