GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Bob Casey for Reelection to the US Senate

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, announced its endorsement of Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey for reelection to the US Senate.

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:

“GIFFORDS PAC is proud to endorse Senator Bob Casey for reelection. Throughout his career he has been a steadfast advocate for gun safety and a powerful voice for the people of Pennsylvania. I’ve been proud to stand alongside him in this work and know that he will never stop fighting to make the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a safer place for every child and family. With our gun safety majority on the line in 2024, we need to reelect strong leaders like my friend Senator Casey—with him working to protect our communities from senseless violence, I know that progress is possible.”

Senator Bob Casey:

“I’m grateful to have the support of GIFFORDS PAC in my campaign for re-election. The gun violence epidemic in our country has torn apart too many families in America, and it’s why I’m working hard every day in the U.S. Senate to make sure all communities in Pennsylvania and around the country are safe from senseless violence.”

Throughout his time in public service, Senator Casey has been a strong champion for commonsense gun safety legislation. He has focused on addressing gun trafficking and getting guns out of the hands of those who pose a danger to themselves or others. He has also pushed for the passage of policies like universal background checks and a ban on military-style assault weapons. Senator Casey has also  introduced landmark legislation to keep Pennsylvanians safe, like the Disarm Hate Act, which would prevent a person who has been convicted of a hate crime from obtaining a firearm, and the Resources for Victims of Gun Violence Act, which would establish a federal advisory council to support victims of gun violence.

In 2022, Senator Casey worked with members of both parties to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, a key GIFFORDS priority and the first major federal gun safety legislation signed into law in nearly 30 years. As part of this historic legislative package, Senator Casey was able to secure more than $8.5 million in federal funding to support the efforts of Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime & Delinquency.
