GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Congressman Andy Kim for US Senate

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, endorsed New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim for election to the US Senate. With Americans’ safety on the ballot this fall, it is critical to elect strong champions like Congressman Kim to higher office and maintain the gun safety majority in the US Senate.

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

“Congressman Andy Kim is the leader New Jersey families need and deserve in the US Senate. Amid challenging times, his moral compass has never wavered, and he’s proven to be a tireless advocate against gun violence. In the US House, Congressman Kim has reached across the aisle to work toward background checks on all gun sales and has helped pass the first major gun safety law in nearly thirty years. I’m proud to endorse Congressman Kim today. I know he’ll help build a safer future for every American and make New Jersey proud.”

“GIFFORDS PAC works every day to elect candidates who will offer commonsense solutions to our country’s gun violence epidemic, and I am proud to have their support this year. Gun violence is everywhere in America, from the classroom to the grocery store, and it doesn’t have to be this way. I’m ready to keep working with GIFFORDS to keep our families and communities safe.”

If elected, Congressman Kim would be the first Korean American to serve in the US Senate. As violence against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community increased exponentially during the height of the pandemic, Congressman Kim fought to keep guns away from those convicted of hate crimes. In office, he’s also worked to close dangerous loopholes that allow guns to fall into the hands of domestic abusers, stop the proliferation of untraceable ghost guns, and fund desperately needed community violence intervention programs.

Congressman Kim’s empathy and character became nationally renowned after he joined custodial workers cleaning the damage left by violent insurrectionists at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. He’s continued to defend our democracy and keep our nation safe from armed threats in office.
