Trump & Vance prioritize gun industry profits over our safety

WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released a statement following former President Donald Trump’s announcement of Ohio Senator JD Vance as his vice presidential pick.

“Last weekend’s horrifying assassination attempt underscored this country’s ongoing gun violence crisis and why we need leaders of both parties who are determined to stop the shooting. Americans desperately need Republicans and Democrats alike to close the loopholes that allow dangerous people to get their hands on deadly weapons,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Yet, throughout their careers, Donald Trump and JD Vance have consistently put gun industry profits over the safety of American communities. The Trump-Vance ticket has promised the gun lobby they will do nothing to stop gun violence—voters must believe them.”
