Gabby Giffords: Tim Walz is the ultimate happy warrior

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the national gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS, released the following statement after Governor Tim Walz’s remarks accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for vice president of the United States.

“I’m so happy the country is getting to know my friend Tim. In tonight’s speech, he laid bare the choice before voters this November. He’s the ultimate happy warrior, a loving father, and a devoted public servant—exactly what our country needs at this moment. He and Vice President Kamala Harris will protect our freedoms and stand up to the gun lobby,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “From when we were sworn into the House together as freshmen in 2007 to when I stood by his side last year as he signed lifesaving bills to stop gun violence, Tim has shown he has the character and values to be a terrific vice president. I can’t wait to help him and Vice President Kamala Harris get to work.”
