“Our Future, Our Freedom” Celebration During Democratic Convention Week Will Be Hosted By Leading Gun Violence Prevention, Reproductive Rights, Campaign Finance Reform, and Arts Advocacy Organizations
GIFFORDS, The Creative Coalition, Reproductive Freedom for All, and End Citizens United Are Joining Together to Put Key Issues Front and Center in the Presidential Race
Chicago, IL – On Wednesday, August 21st in Chicago an “Our Future, Our Freedom” celebration will be hosted by leading gun violence prevention, reproductive rights, campaign finance reform, and arts advocacy organizations. During the week of the Democratic National Convention, GIFFORDS, Reproductive Freedom for All, End Citizens United, and The Creative Coalition are joining together for the first time to put key issues that matter to the American people front and center in the presidential race.
The “Our Future, Our Freedom” celebration is inspired by the broad coalition of Americans who are unified around a positive, forward-looking vision for our country that values our fundamental freedoms. The four leading national organizations co-hosting the event jointly recognize the enthusiasm that people across the nation have to protect their freedoms at the ballot box.
The celebration, which will feature live music performances, will be held at the Ramova Theatre in Chicago following the conclusion of the third night of programming at the Democratic National Convention. Space is extremely limited and guests are required to RSVP. This is to be a widely attended event.
“Everyone deserves the freedom to live without the threat of gun violence,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Defending freedom will be top of mind for voters when they go to the ballot box this November, and we’re excited to partner with Reproductive Freedom for All, End Citizens United, and The Creative Coalition to unify our coalitions in support of a positive, forward-looking vision. The enthusiasm for this freedom-first agenda is clear, and we are thrilled to co-host this celebration alongside our partners.”
“We can’t have true reproductive freedom until our families are safe and our democracy protected. We’re proud to partner with End Citizens United, GIFFORDS, and The Creative Coalition as we continue to fight side by side to realize this vision for our future,” said Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju. “Our issues are fundamental to voters, and top of mind as they head to the voting booth this November. Our rights and our democracy itself are on the line—and the only way to protect them is to work together to elect leaders who understand that these freedoms are non-negotiable.”
“With our individual freedoms and rights on the ballot, this November will be the most important election in our lifetimes,” said End Citizens United / Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “Dangerous politicians are fixated on rolling back our rights in order to perpetuate their ultra-conservative agenda, including our freedom to vote, our reproductive freedoms, and our civil rights. We are honored to join this incredible coalition of organizations, representing millions of Americans nationwide, as we fight back against these threats. It’s not going to be easy, but when we unite together, we can safeguard our democracy.”
“The Creative Coalition uses the power of creative expression to advocate for rights and freedoms,” said The Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk. “This concert event aligns with our mission to promote cultural understanding, revitalize communities, and address pressing societal challenges. We look forward to an extraordinary night of celebration where the superpower of music, art and entertainment is illuminated.”
