GIFFORDS PAC endorses Adelita Grijalva in AZ-07 special election
WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, endorsed Adelita Grijalva to represent Arizona’s 7th District in the United States House of Representatives. Grijalva, a member of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, is the daughter of former Representative Raúl Grijalva, who held this seat from 2003 until his passing in March 2025 following a battle with lung cancer.
“Supervisor Grijalva has dedicated nearly 25 years of her life to serving Southern Arizona, fighting for public safety and working families. She is the right person to carry on her father’s legacy, and we are proud to endorse her for Congress,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “Mark and I have seen her commitment to serving our city and state firsthand, both as a member of the Pima County Board of Supervisors and as a member of the Tucson Unified Governing Board. In Congress, I know she will continue to be a strong voice for gun safety and fierce advocate for Arizona, while breaking barriers as the first Latina to represent our great state at the federal level.”
“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of Gabby and GIFFORDS PAC. They are at the forefront of the fight for gun safety, and their support is a powerful affirmation of our campaign’s commitment to making our communities safer and protecting the lives of all Americans. This endorsement sends a clear message – we stand united in our simple demand to live lives free from gun violence, and we will fight for it at the highest levels of government. We must continue to put people over politics because countless lives depend on it,” said Grijalva.
Throughout her career, Grijalva has prioritized addressing America’s gun violence epidemic. She has worked to keep Arizonans safe by consistently holding gun safety–focused town halls for youth, and providing free gun locks and information on gun safety classes to attendees at local gun shows. While on the Board of Supervisors, she also sponsored legislation designed to protect Arizona families, including measures to challenge Arizona’s state law that prohibits local governments from enacting their own firearms regulations and to require gun owners to report the theft or loss of a firearm.
