GIFFORDS PAC endorses Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs for reelection
WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement endorsing Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs in her reelection campaign.
“Since flipping her seat in 2022, my friend Governor Katie Hobbs has used the full power of her office to protect students, families, and first responders from gun violence,” said Congresswoman Giffords. “She’s demonstrated that she’s a leader who is unafraid to stand up to the corporate gun lobby and say no to reckless legislation that jeopardizes public safety. With so much on the line in this year’s midterm election cycle, voters across Arizona must mobilize to reelect Governor Hobbs. GIFFORDS PAC is proud to endorse her campaign.”
“I’m deeply honored to have the support of GIFFORDS PAC in this campaign. Gabby Giffords’ courage and leadership have inspired me for years, and she has paved the way for real progress in preventing gun violence,” said Governor Hobbs. “As governor, I’ve worked to keep Arizona families safe by supporting common sense laws that protect survivors of domestic violence and prevent tragedies before they happen. Together, we’ll keep moving Arizona forward with smart, responsible solutions that put the safety of our communities first.”
Prior to her tenure as governor, Katie Hobbs served as Arizona’s secretary of state and in the Arizona state legislature, where she championed public safety measures and fought to keep Arizona families safe. In her current role, she has vetoed a number of dangerous and unnecessary bills that would have undermined public safety by allowing firearms into schools and colleges. Governor Hobbs also blocked reckless preemption laws, which would have stripped cities, towns and counties of their right to regulate guns on the local level.
