Gabby Giffords remembers victims of King Soopers mass shooting five years later

WASHINGTON —   GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement ahead of the King Soopers mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado, which occurred five years ago this Sunday. Ten were killed and another was injured during the shooting.

“Today, I’m thinking of the 10 lives that were stolen during this terrible shooting, and of the families who will never stop mourning them,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “Every community deserves to feel safe and protected, especially while doing something as ordinary as grocery shopping. Yet far too often, Americans’ everyday lives are cut short or changed forever by a sudden act of gun violence. While Colorado’s leaders have made important strides in gun safety in the years since this shooting, there is still more work to do to protect Coloradans from gun violence.”
